i have to move my bench drill
it is on a cabinet about 800mm high
i struggled to get it up there as i could not dismantle and re-assemble where it is
i thought i was going to do some serious damage getting it up there

how do i safely get it down please?

this is a heavy beast to say the least and i don't want to take the risk again

i cant use a hoist

Steve

Make a temporary platform 800mm high located adjacent to the cabinet and walk the bench drill from the 800mm high cabinet to the temp platform.
Move the cabinet to the other side of the temp platform and again walk the bench drill on to the cabinet.
Continue until you reach the new position.

If I lived nearer I'd give you a hand. Perhaps someone closer will offer. Good luck.

It will have to be 1 strong person then. I put mine in position 10 yrs ago. On my own! Had to move it 2 weekends ago. Wisely gave up after about 5 seconds. Got my 23yr old son to do it. Made me feel very old.

I have moved a bench drill using the method Brian suggests. In my case it was lower and a B&D Workmate was about the right height. Works well.

Afternoon Steve

If the floor is flat, can you use rollers and move the lot together?

Cheers

Dave

i did move it
well not me...one of my lads just picked it up
made me feel really old
when i collected it i had to dismantle in 4 pieces to lift it
thought i was fit and strong but i guess age tells me different

+1
Did just that couple of weeks ago by myself (69 years old) piece of cake. Did have my wife close to hand with telephone just in case :)

Steve,

Could you get on a pair of suitable step-ladders, dismantle the drill into as many parts as possible? Then you could move it piece-meal, and reassemble.
Not knowing your make of drill, I can't be sure it is feasible to dismantle of course.

HTH

John :)
