I have been given a branch/chunk/lump of Mountain Ash. About 4" round, 2' long or so.
Its been stored in a garage for a couple of years, so should be pretty dry....

Is it worth me trying to do anything with it? Or should i cut it up and give it to me Grandad for his log burner!?
Anyone turned any?

It`ll turn or carve according to my information though I have not used it myself. sure someone on here will have done so if they haven`t this may be the best info you get i hope not. assume you know its also known as rowan which may give you more info. for research purposes.
all the best

There are several disparate species of tree known as Mountain Ash but usually in the UK it's the Rowan - which is particularly good for tool handles :)

Cheers.

I will keep it as is for now then, in case i need any handles one day.
