Hello again
The latest in my series of begging-for-help posts about trying to bring this motor back to life:
The plate is a little hard to read - it's 4 pole (I think), single phase 1440 rpm 240V 50Hz 0.5kW/0.75HP
I replaced the capacitor with a 20uF
Opened it up and found a broken wire to the centrifugal switch. Soldered a new one in.
The motor now buzzes on powering and will run if given a starting spin. It runs with continuing buzzing and slower than 1440 I think.
The centrifugal switch is quite rusty although I have tried to clean the contacts.
What's my next move (other than the scrap man)? I don't want to give up (and it's teaching me heaps).
I can buy a new centrifugal switch ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/166486049262 ) for a 19mm arbor, but am not confident that it will fit the motor housing etc., so don't want to plough on if the problem is elswhere. Might one of the windings be bad and produce this behaviour?
Many thanks again for the help
