I’ve got some Morrells pigmented lacquer that is a nice grey with a 20% sheen. I’ve just tried using it with a brush on some scrap to see how it would turn out.

The colour looks great but with the fingernail test it chips off easily from the primer (also Morrells) and it scratches quite easily or easier than I would have expected it to.

Do you reckon its scratching easily because of the sheen level or that I’ve not let it properly harden?

I suspect that because you brushed it on it will behave quite differently to if sprayed/ atomised. Can`t say I have tried it with a brush but when I spray it with the Kremlin if you over do it or get a thick bit in an inside corner it will take ages to dry on that area.
I find the water based stuff it much more temperature sensitive than the solvent ones. let it harden for a good time or at a warmer temperature.
