Hi guys, I have a record No5 bench plane and the blade adjuster screw has damaged threads and needs to be replaced. Can any of you kind soles advise where I can get a replacement sent out without extortionate postage costs.

Just use an appropriate size bolt with the head cut off. Cheap and easy. :wink:

Except that LH thread 9/32" 24tpi bolts aren't all that common.

Try http://www.stanleytoolparts.com if you don't have any luck elsewhere. Adjusting nut & screw $US4.35, postage probably ~$US7.
