Hello,

This is priceless!

I would have loved to have been present when the bits were assembled in the 'most logical way'
I bet he was really proud when the epiphany stuck; ' of course these things fit into these holes! How else could it be?'

I might have to print copies of these. I don't think you would ever get tired of chuckling at these.

Mike.

Lovely!

In a way you have to admire the seller's self-confidence. He's sitting at a computer able to search the web including tool shops, all of eBay and sites like this one - but he steams stubbornly ahead and invents his own categories of tools. There's money to be made out of this old stuff, even if you have no clue why.

   Ahh, so that's what a double scribing tool is.

Anybody going to tell 'em??

Looks like it could be a good plane with the right bits in the right places, in the same lot ... etc. The nicker is there but it needs an iron ...

I've seen nicer! One of the fence stems is quite badly mashed (only visible because it was separated!) and it's missing the depth stop as well - has someone really wrecked a nice old sash fillister for the sake of the scrap value of a few ounces of brass? What is the world coming to... mutter mutter...etc

Ah yes - I came late to the discovery of all the other photos further down the pages. Well nibbled.

What surprises me is the apparent ease with which the gages fit the plane to the point of convincing the seller that that is indeed their natural home before checking the fence rods.

Maybe the two lots will reappear as intended by Nature and without the Mary Shelly influence.

These were removed from eBay because they are in fact stolen Veritas prototypes. When these go into production, they will set the handtool world on fire!

They may have all of the parts, just didn't know which hole to shove the other pieces into!

At least they didn't do this... (hammer)

..another good one is 'finding' antique wooden planes described as full working order, with either the bevel up, or in one instance the cap iron face down and projecting out of the mouth!!

I cant resist the temptation to re set and 'correct' these, then walk away...
