are these any good? i need something to measure stock thickness and have a vague recollection that these may have been made for the chinese space programme??
any opinions/knowledge gratefully received.

They are a respected Japanese company, so I don't quite understand the china reference. That could be my ignorance, though. For wood, I would guess that anything they make is more than adequately accurate. Certainly going to be better than Lidle, Aldi, etc, if (possibly) a percieved step below Starret, M&W, etc. If you've found a cheap one on ebay/local shop/whatever, then grab it, basically. If full list price, it is probably over-specced for wood. IF that makes sense.
 
One of the best brands available these days. They are notmally a lot more expensive than no-name stuff although you occasionally see deals being offered.
