Hi,

I'm going to buy a SCMS in the next week or so and have probably settled on the Makita LS1018. I will also be looking for a stand to go with it and whilst looking came across the Bosch GTA 2600. I like the spec of the stand and the sturdy quality of the Bosch gear I already have (Blue SDS) leads me to seriousy consider it for the price (about~£80). I can just about live with the gaudy colours which are a bit puke. The blurb says it fits a whole host of Bosch saws but does anyone know if it will fit the Mak I mention above? Also is there another stand in the same bracket that others would recommend above this - detention for the first one to mention the DeWalt stand (that's over £100 )

Most of those are all very similar, from the axi/ milwaukee / Dewalt etc. There are just minor differences between them all. I will probably get the axi version as i'm not sure about all those knobs on the bosch.

I'll take the detention because I bought the De Walt last year and it's awesome. For years I managed with the saw bolted to my workmate and a couple of roller stands which was a lot of faffing about when I only had a couple of cuts to make. The stand is a whole new way of life, makes it a pleasure to use the saw, kicking myself for not buying one years ago.
Only 2 minor whinges about it:
- no adjustment on the legs, so needs level ground or messing about with packing
- price of the additional brackets, I'd like another pair but they're half the price of the whole outfit

Cheers guys.

pcb; see me after school for some lines!!

Can anyone see a reason why the Bosch stand wouldn't fit the makita? It looks like it should to me but it would be good to get a more informed opinion on that.

All stands will fit all saws, that is assuming the saw has fixing holes in the same plane front and rear. If they are off set from each other a simple piece of ply will sort that out. ;)

EDIT

A quick search on the saw in question showed this. While not the bosch stand, the principle is the same.

So the makita has the front/rear fixings holes inline with each other. So will fit all stands inc the Dewalt.

I've come to the even more skinflinty conclusion that I should make my own with bits of wood :)

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good plan on the net for a mitre saw stand please? Not too massive would be my preference.

How big do you need it to be? Evolution make a smaller stand than the ones above for about half the price. Have a looksee on ebay. ;)

Can be made to any size to suit.

Thanks guys. Those stands all look a bit massive for the limited space I have to be honest. I was thinking of fashioning something based on a couple of saw horses type of stand/frame with a removable bench arrangement on top.
