Trundled down to Maidstone this weekend for the FFX show, not only a haven for this power tool user but a chance to meet up with a lot of old friends one of whom knowing my love of things black & green surprised me with this rather wonderful inscribed MFT top.
His timing couldn't have been better as I was just starting to think my present top was getting ready for the firewood pile.

Whilst at the show I spied the new organiser from Tanos so thought I'd best give one a good home

Like the look of that MFT top Doug, there's one on my to do list in the near future

Cheers

Steve

There’re a great addition to the shop Steve but for me it’s on site that they really come into there own, having a portable work bench is such a bonus & I imagine with a cnc a lot easier to make than with my home made router jig.

I just need to machine some new aluminium dogs for it, the ones in the photo I designed quite a few years ago, they’ve worked pretty well but I’ve come up with a better design.

If I had that MFT top I don't think I could bring myself to use it, far too pretty.

It won't look like that for long Doug, I like to look after my gear but it's only here to do a job so the newness doesn't last long (hammer) :D

A few photos of the new dogs I made last weekend, made from 7/8" aluminium bar I made two sets each comprising 2x25mm 2x45mm & 4x68mm those measurements being the projection above the table the turned spigot being 23mm long on each dog.

I started by cutting all the blanks to length at the bandsaw

Next onto the lathe to have the 20mm diameter spigots cut & a chamfer cut on the tops

The slight burrs at the shoulder were removed by hand

& after a quick polish up the dogs are ready for action
