I'm currently doing an extension to my property and my budget is swelling so am looking for alternatives for certain things to save money.
One idea is to have powder coated 40mm thick MDF for the sides of an island rather than continuing with quartz/acrylic that'll make up the counter top, not necessarily the same colour.
Another is to have a thinner version from the counter top to celling instead of a splash back (we've having no high cupboards). It would have to go behind an extractor fan and hob so would this be possible with the right treatment?
Obviously the products will need to be durable. Any help guidance on if this is a good idea and where to source will greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Marc
