I have every respect for Matthias and I love his vids (and I'm delighted to say that he has subscribed to my YT channel too), but I would not describe that as a new joint, it is a standard dovetail that has been post-processed. The joint itself has not changed.
But I do agree that it looks very pretty. Yes.

But that's the point. The dovetail itself is not curved! Every surface of the joint is straight...

But yes, Matthias is a genius and I wish I had written half of Google (or whatever it was that he did to enable make him to retire at 23... or whatever it was. Me, jealous?).

It's unique as far as I have seen. He is a clever lad. I think he had something to do with the development of the Blackberry.

Now if you want a truly curved "dovetail" then this is the nearest I've seen. It's a dovetail in the functional sense - it can be used in exactly the same circumstances that one would normally use a DT, such as a drawer or a cabinet corner:

To get the same effect you don't need to round the corner off, you can also just chamfer it back to the gauge lines, it will weaken the joint of course but does give that "impossible" look to the joint.

Clever but not attractive. I think it's because it's obvious that it's done by machine with no human skill involved other than set up.
