1. Grab a calculator. (you won't be able to do this one in your
head)
2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (NOT the
area code)
3. Multiply by 80
4. Add 1
5. Multiply by 250
6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number
7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
8. Subtract 250
9. Divide number by 2

Hopefully, you will get your own telephone number!

smoke and mirrors...basically it multiplies the first 3 digits by 10000 (80 * 250 / 2) so as to shift the digits to the left 4 places and then adds the last 4 digits.
 
How about this then?

Pick a number of 2, 3 or 4 digits.

Add 3 to that number and write it down.

Also subtract 3 from that number and write it down.

Multiply these two new numbers together.

Add 9 to that product.

Now calculate the square root of the result from the last step.
