Sorry is it me? What is the 'mistake'?

It looks like a Makita and it probably works.

The picture tells the story, it's a heap of junk that will not slide on those rails and there's no guard but it is there for all to see. Someone will buy it for spares.

Hi,

There is a couple of fake 3612 on Ebay, sticker missing!!!
I reported one but I think its still up.

Pete

Reporting fakes to eBay is a total waste of time. As long as they get their fees, eBay care diddly squat about fakes. It takes someone like the French to try and do something about this.

http://www.growthbusiness.co.uk/news/bu ... pute.thtml although unfortunately the fine got significantly reduced on appeal.

And not all countries see things the same way... http://www.auctiva.com/edu/entry.aspx?i ... al-Victory

Guess it's same-old-same-old....if you throw enough money at the courts then chances are somewhere along the line you will find a ruling in your favour.

Hi,

I think the first one has been pulled, I have reported the other one and will keep an eye on it.

Yes... it does look like a Makita.... it's the right colour anyway. What about if it's green...

...doesn't look so Makita-ish. It's a cheap Eastern import. I've got one in black with 'Wickes' on it, permanently modded for trench cuttting. Piece of junk but it does enough for my needs.

Here's an even worse one... a B & Q special.... Makita LS1013!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I actually bought one of these routers off ebay about three months ago - mine was not sold as a makita but badged by lucas and green. The router description said it was variable speed but its not - single speed.

Now get ready for this - its actually quite a good and very powerful router. the fine adjuster whilst simple works very effectively, reasonable collets and a darn site better than alot of the 1/2" routers in the sub £150 price bracket.

I just looked it up and I paid £29 for it plus a tenner delivery - to be perfectly honest for that price I would recommend it!!

Well, the LS1013 has been withdrawn from sale. The other one is still available if you're after a bargain  .

Talking of bargains, I got a hardly used SIP morticer and 5 brand new chisels for £40 out of my local paper today :D :D

Came with all the original accessories, including the chuck and key and the manual.

Bit of a result!!

Some of cheap routers can be a really good buy, we bought one at the firm I used to work for, and then decided as it was useful having a small router so bought a Dewalt ( the old MOF96 ) that lasted just over 2 years, the £20 from B&Q was still going strong 3 years later when I left.

Both routers were getting a lot of use.
