Help anyone please.

I have a Makita 4300bv jigsaw, and I wouldn't change it by choice. Unfortunately it uses the Makita shank blades, not the bayonet style of fixing. The Makita shank blades are getting harder to find easily. Recently I came across this company http://www.uk-jigsawblades.co.uk/conten ... -Wood.html. They are able to supply the blades I need at what seem to be good prices.

Sadly they have not come across Makita blade type 42, for decorative veneers, a fine cutting blade which leaves a very good finish. Makita tell me that the card of five blades has the reference A-85896. It could well be that uk-jigsawblades would get some in for me, but as I only need one pack I don't really like to ask.

Do any of you use this blade and if so have you a good supplier, prefferably accessible on-line?

Thanks in advance,

xy

Thanks Richard,

I had come across those. Sadly they are not equivalent to Makita 42's, they are equivalent to Makita 41's and may be very good.

I contacted the folks at UkJigsawBlades who thought that No.41 was the highest number available. However an email to Makita confirmed the fact that No. 42's are still available, they gave me the part number, and suggested that any Makita dealer could get them. A 'phone call to my local dealer confirmed the fact and told me he could order one pack, my fear being that they might have to order some large quantity. Well done Makita!

The 42's differ from the 41's in that it is basically set to slice cut in both directions, with no set. This gives a very well finished cut edge in many materials. I spent most of thursday afternoon trying to photograph a number 42 blade with no success, sorry.

AH! Found a distant supplier with image of said blade.

Thanks again for the response Richard.
