Making windpws and doors

I am wanting to make some new timber windows with an opening sash for my garage. It will be first time I have undertaken anything like this. Can anyone advise on a good pictorial book or can share there wisdom?

Do a search as there was a really good thread about making two opening windows by someone a while ago. All I remember is they did a test piece and put the lock on the wrong side of the frame so hopefully that is a clue and someone will know which thread it was.

Well that was a great thread. A little advanced for me I think. I need to start at the beginning upwards. Stock selection etc....
