As the wood species appears not be in the text, would Anybody like to guess the timber used,? Regards Rodders

Hi
Impressive.
Gypsies used a similar technique to carve chrysanthemums.
Their preferred wood was elder.
Perhaps willow or birch in this case?
Cheers John

My SWMBO is German and she has a set of these that come down from the loft every Christmas. Because I'm a bah humbug type I've always regarded them as a seasonal annoyance without considering how they were made. Now I know, I'll be a little more kindly disposed. Thanks for posting the link!
