While making my kitchen I had a go at spraying a lacquered finish on the oak frames. Now I wish I had just oiled the oak as its so easy to top the finish up once a year or whenever needed.
In the areas of high usage ,such as around the sink, the lacquer is looking a little worn so is it ok to use an oil or wax finish on top of the lacquer, to seal it again and build up a protective finish

Unfortunately you'll need to sand off the lacquer before you can apply an oil or wax. Have you still got some of the lacquer left? If so, lightly sand the surface and apply a thin coat.
