Coo, Derek, the long gestation period is readily explained.  Lyn-esque in many respects. :D Pity you didn't have a Stanley or L-N #40.5 to compare; it'd be interesting to see if they'd give sufficient improvement in "heft" for your work without needing to go as far as the L-V does. Oh, one thing; d'you always go to that degree of sharpness for scrub irons? Not that I'm judging but, Derek, mate, chum, it's a scrub plane...

Cheers, Alf

I don't know much Derek,

but I enjoyed your review.

I have always liked the idea of hands on. Now there is another tool to add to the list.

ATB Gary.

Great read, really interesting & very detailed.

Another tool for the 'want' list.

Nice one, Derek.

That's a real fair review Derek... good call re heft vs fatigue and the advantages of mass behind a heavy cut...

I'll still stick with my L-N though..

Great review Derek!! Thanks. Still waiting for your review of the LV Heavy
Smoother. I saw your initial posting with the detailed pictures. =D>

Enjoyed the review. Ironically, I placed an order for a L-N scrub plane 20 minutes before seeing your post! Unfortunately I don't have an LV to compare it against. Still, it should improve my every expanding triceps :)
