Hi everyone!

My Fiancé and I have got the opportunity to have a flat at the start of next year, the flat is currently a group of offices at the moment so there is no bathroom, kitchen etc. We plan on doing the majority of the work ourselves with a bit of help from my dad (hopefully) regarding the building work side of things.

I really want to make some fitted wardrobes for the bedroom aswell as other bits and pieces throughout the house as I think that is the only way that we will be able to afford nice quality furnishings.

I havent got any measurements as yet as we only found out about the flat on saturday.

Can someone point me in the right direction of a how to or some youtube videos?

In terms of the wood, we are (well I am) either looking at oak or walnut, I dont have an issue about having veneered mdf/ply if that would make construction easier.

Thanks in advance!

I'd make the carcasses out of 18mm veneered board and use pocket hole joinery. It can easily be dismantled if necessary and is easier to cart up the stairs than a joined carcase.
Send me your email addy and I'll send you an article I wrote a few years ago on how I made mine.

I was going to add that I wanted to use pocket hole joinery.

What would be the best kit to buy? Everyone talks about kreg but I have seen that axminster are now selling kits for about the same price.

Steve I will pm you me email later :)

Thanks!

I can not comment on the Axminster ones but I have the cheapest Kreg one and it is great. It works fine with a range of screws but I bought a box of the right length for my timber Kreg pocket hole screws and they are excellent. I used it for making my table saw station. If you are going to use them a lot it might be worth getting the more expensive jigs.

You can see the little pocket hole jig in the top left corner clamped to the panel.

I had a good look at the Axy one (UJK) last month, in their showroom. It's nicely made. I have one of the Kreg kits myself, and like it. I doubt you'd go wrong with either of them, but hex-headed screws are probably easier to find than Robertson (supplied with Kreg), although Robertson ones work slightly better. I'm sure you could use either with either jig, so it's a tough choice!
