Hope it's OK with the mods to do this - I posted in the Wanted section, but wonder if not many people view that, as only had one reply, which unfortunately didn't lead to a solution.
Managed to break one of these tiles:-

today and it was one of SWMBO's favourites.
Not strictly a woodworking item, although the turned frame was wood. If anyone knows a source, would be eternally grateful for aid in escape from doghouse!

I'd set up a regular ebay search with a few key words Durer tile hare etc.
Ebay will email you each day if the search terms are met.

Thanks, MM. Unfortunately, that one is too small as well as being square - there is a matching framed tile of a squirrel which fortunately didn't get damaged so it needs to be about 150mm square at least. I guess if anyone does a larger square tile, it could be cut to circle with TC coated jigsaw blade (had to do this with about a dozen tiles in our last kitchen - feasible but stressful!)
The original came from Craft Supplies some 20 or 30 years ago when they were in Millers dale and were probably new old stock then. But much higher quality than the usual run of "tiles for turners".

Hi Dick

I can't help with where to source, but if you are successful please let me know where you get one - my wife's latest 'fad' is hares.

Thanks Mick

They do a 150mm square one too. Yes it would need cutting into a circle though.

MM - you're a genius! Or very possibly, I'm particularly stupid - hadn't noticed there was a pull-down for a different size on the website. Can see some very careful work with jigsaw and TC coated blade coming up..................

Will post result here if it works.

Have also put a watch on Evilbay, but the last relevant item was some time last year.

Apropos nothing...as a Biologist well into his senescent years, my training can't help jogging me into thinking what exactly typifies, describes and measurable in an OLD "faart"? Yes, I know, it is an anthropomorphic metaphor, but go on folks, try this at home. Synthesise a description of an aged bottom burp...I dare you.

I would like to make it clear, no Methyl-ethyl-oh-hol is in my bloodstream; I'm just feeling Puckish!

Just to end this saga, the tile I needed came up on Evilbay last week, and got a successful bid last night. Paid more than it was worth, probably, but it might save my marriage! And it was obviously worth only 50p less to someone........
