Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask but has anyone got any suggestions as to how to post an item approx 130cm long that doesn't cost almost as much as the item is worth? I have a Trend 50" guide rail I don't use and if it was 8cm shorter then post would be under £4. However that 8cm triples the postage price for the cheapest quote I could find. By the time I add £12 to the figure I'm looking for it doesn't come out much cheaper than a new one!

Can you put it in a wider box, corner to corner?

(I remember this as a puzzle in a children's annual, many decades ago - I can't believe it might have come in useful at last!)
