I thought I would post this because it is not often you see bay wood in use. It turns beautifully. This is about three months from the tree but relatively stable. bowls is about seven inches diameter. Blank cut earlier this week.

It came from a bit with a fork in it. I cut the odd shaped ends off, one of which I used to make an offset bowl.
Just an oddment thrown in with some firewood.

here is the fork, which I split and the offset "bowl" ???

I like the offset bowl, not seen anything like that before. I will have to give it a try later on when I have the basics down a bit more :)

Is it bay laurel, rather than the smelly bay we think of at first?

Bay is called laurier here in France, this bit came from a tree that had the spicy leaves used in cooking.
