I did this Oak vase , needs to be a open grain wood to get the best out of it

I wire brushed along the grain to open it up a bit so the LW shows

yeah it said on their site that Oak and Ash work well with liming wax

Cheers for posting them up ...dont know if i need any or not !!!

ive just order the Decorating Elf ...think what i'll do is make a wide rim bowl stain the rim and then use the elf on the rim and see how that comes out !!!

Cheers Dave

Personally, I have been very disappointed in the results when using liming wax on both oak and ash. I prefer the contrast from using an ordinary wax and do not think that the liming wax adds any additional quality to the overall appearance. I used a suede wire brush across and against the grain to try and lift the grain to take the liming wax, but without much success. Is there anything else that can be done to "boost" the effect of liming wax?

Mike

Try using the other coloured waxes too - they are available in black, green, blue and a range of shades of brown. Also siver and gold. All can be used to good effect to enhabce grain or to accentuate applied texture.
