Hi all,

Looking for some advice re previous post on record power dml 24x lathe. Motor runs fine, but when starting to turn in starts to stall and hum, occasionally after this it will hum on switch on.

Have the replaced the capacitor, to no avail, eventually got round to strip motor for centrifugal switch, but don’t look like it has one.

Help!!! I have attached for help .

I am no expert on motors but if the power deteriorates as it warms up I would guess the internal copper wiring is damaged from heat and usage. Have you priced up a replacement motor? Motors can also be rewound by a professional so compare the cost of both options.

Also I assume when cold and when hot, the spindle spins freely by hand? If it gets stiff when hot, then it could be one of the bearings is packed with dust and causes excessive friction.
