Have just got a Wadkin RS lathe and need a decent chuck that has the extenders for mounting alloy plates...
(no idea on threads as yet as the machine is in storage).....
these are to hold large platters........
any recomended makes.....Nothing Chinese or Axminster thanks.......
had something similar but it was sold with one of my old lathes......

Ruling out Chinese and Axminster limits you to only a few brands. I know Oneway chucks and products are made here in Canada and are of high quality. They have adapters to fit your spindle to the chucks and a lot of different jaws for gripping different kinds of turnings. I don't know if they make faceplates to fit the chucks though. ONEWAY Manufacturing
Vicmarc chucks are also very good and I think are made in Australia. Home
Any others you will need to dig for over there.

Funny thread on one of those, 1 3/8" x 6TPI BSW. I don't think anyone makes a chuck to fit so you may need to buy a chuck without a backplate and have a backplate machined by an engineering company to suit.
