We have a rather elegant but elderly set of halogen bedside floor-standing lamps. The switches are the weak link and one finally gave up the ghost. It's a SPDT (single pole double throw) switch that feeds either 10 v or 12v to the 12v bulb to vary the lighting level.

Normally I'd start Googling SPDT switch but I soon came to the conclusion that that would be a very time-consuming job as the size was critical. One has to click on each site, navigate around a bit, review, decide, discard, backspace and onto the next.

Then

I took a flyer and used Google Image search using SPDT. Fifty or more switches to view at one hit. So easy to review and discard. About four rows down there was one switch that looked identical...click on the link to get to the spec. Bingo. Two ordered/delivered/fitted. Job done :)

i find the image search increasingly useful when looking for items. so much easier than trying to locate something many pages deep on a website.

I often use Google images when looking for inspiration for woodturning designs, and agree that it is often better than searching through individual websites. It was a bit hopeless for this month's challenge though. I googled images of "suspended bowl" and virtually all the images returned were from American football (the Super bowl presumably).
