I emailed the land registry to arrange an appointment so I can purchase a copy of a lease for use in court, I explained I suffer from profound hearing loss so I would find it difficult arranging the appointment over the phone, today I recieved an email saying, I have to register with the RNID for Typetalk, apparently this is a service that is offered to deaf people, I have to type a prefix infront of the number which means a Typetalk operator will join in the conversation, I will have to have a textphone, I will then text my message and the Typetalk operator will relay what I have said.

So I can email the land registry to ask how I can arrange an appointment, but the only way I can make an appointment is to ring them? I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that it is an 0844 number! I feel a complaint coming on, perhaps I should enlist the help of my MP.

Rant over.

You shouldn't need to make an appointment, register online and download it. Most leases, deeds etc are around the £4 mark.
Fatboy it is very complicated and I would need to see someone to make certain I am purchasing the correct documents, it is for a downstairs flat, the lease is called a Tyneside Lease which is not straightforward.
Also I don't think a downloaded copy is admissible in court.

Would you be able to visit your nearest Citizen's Advice Bureau and get them to help you?

I've never used them so don't know how it works :) wouldn't you just walk into their office, explain, and get them to phone there and then?! (Or am I living in la-la land?!!!!)

If it is do you mean yes to the first statement or the bit that pebbles says (Or am I living in la-la land?), because our local CAB you cannot just walk in off the street, you have to make an appointment. (however you can just walk into their office to make an appointment, you don't have phone them!)
