Lamptti Mortise Gauge...Have been looking for a "better quality" Mortise gauge to replace a cheapie I got a few years ago. Really wanted something with a "fine" adjustment, so treated myself to one of these of Amazon. Arrived today, (came earlier than expected from China), really nice quality for 16 notes!

(NB My woodworking skills are very much at the "botch" end of the scale)...

I had some idea that every apprentice made their own guage, which is why I don't have one. Never thought to buy one off the peg - I had put it on the list of endless tools that I am required to make to prove my worth as a would-be carpenter. There no way I could make one as shiny as this chappy - better get my internet banking back on line.
