I specifically noted his preference for using tailstock support for even what would appear to be a low risk from chatter or deflection small diameter piece mounted in substantial jaws, sometimes we forget that surface finish off the tool has many factors that can cause us niggles without 'seeing' the root/simple cause.
 
As a complete novice woodturner, everything by someone who knows what they are doing appeals to me.

Fair comment. One of the benefits of a forum is the other perspective.
But that's the difference between UK and US culture - UK is used to being careful with resource - I must be spending too much time in US I didn't see it :)
