What are the differences between US and EU specs and why do tools for use in UK have to be CE approved after January?
Hi Graham, key design differences between USA spec and EU are generally extra safety features required for CE.
Some examples below, which all need to be appraised and confirmed by a 'Notified body';

Braked motors / Micro switches on doors / length of rear feed after blade / thickness and positioning of guarding / Switches / EMC testing / Low voltage Directive.

After January we are moving to UKCA, which to all intent is CE at present but what happens after 2021 I'm not sure anyone knows yet? I can't see CE stringency being relaxed as it's a good benchmark for extra protection and I know several non CE countries such as Australia specify CE design from Laguna USA as it is held up as a 'safer' standard than USA.

Hope this helps,
Cheers,
Nick
