Hi folks,
Have purchased the large Veritas bench vice to retro fit to an existing bench I have. Trying to get the numerous bits and pieces together before i start.
Instructions state I need 5 - 1/4" x 21/2" LAg screws.
Went to my local engineering supplies, never heard of LAG screws. Could anyone please enlighten or recommend a more accessible UK alternative. The vice is canadian built and they adopt the imperial system and LAG is form of americanised use of language I think.

Many thanks

andy

Coach screws would be what we call them. Basically a thick woodscrew with either a square or hex head.

Should be able to get some from a large shed or screwfix

If they are not actually being screwed into teh wooden bench but go into clearance holes then thats more a LAG bolt which would be a coach bolt - machine screw thread and a domed head with a square below the head

try searching for coach screws. should be readily available, if not screwfix/toolstation certainly keep them.
