Hello everyone

I'm thinking of venturing into kumiko patterning to add a bit of spice to my jewellery boxes etc
Has anyone tried this? I'm scanning the web for some diagrams with the correct angles etc but i cant find anything other than a set of books by a fella called des king.

If there is anyone who has made the jigs themselves or has a better idea about angles than me i would really appreciate the help.

Cheers!
Joe

I think that username Glynn was looking into it a few weeks ago. May be worth asking him if he doesn't see the post

Hi - I've not tried it but have been very tempted to have a go after seeing Mike Pekovich on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSGmPd1vzGA and Instagram https://www.instagram.com/pekovichwoodworks/

In these you can see the jigs he uses and the angles (which obviously depend on the patterns he's reproducing) which include 22.5, 45 and 67.5 from memory.

There's also a more academic approach from Des King who has also apparently written books on the subject https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Khr5Is3kT8s

Hope this is of some help, if you go ahead and have a go please tell us how you get on!

I've prepared some lime (tilia) or basswood, which I hope to have a go with when it's dried out a bit more.

Cheers, W2S
