This T5 router has had hardly any use but has now died. The top bearing looks as if it either seized or over-heated as the plastic housing in which the bearing is located appears to have melted! Anyone else come across this problem?



You can see a bit of the plastic just up a bit from the red wire.

Thank God I still have my trusty Makita !
 
Not at all uncommon. Once a problem starts in a bearing the result is often heat and in a plastic housing , the heat can't get away.

Trend spares are often dearer than their equivalent DW part - the routers are all but identical.
