I thought this might help anyone with a kity planer. I found the four pinions at the bottom of the machine had worn as the spines had worn making it slip and then jamming the thicknesses up and down mechanism, so I bought new ones from NMA Brighouse but they were smooth in the bore with no spines after a sleepless night I decided to drill the bore out to just allow it to just go over the threads then put the nut on and press the pinion down over the spines and it worked as there is a soft metal insert in the pinion so it will fit all kity planers, getting the chain on was difficult the answer is to slacken the two bolts under the wheel winder and it’s on a slot so is adjustable. Hope this helps with anyone with the same problem.
