Decided to squeeze in another project, a kitchen knife holder box.
My first thoughts were to match a spatula holder made some years ago, so a piece of 8x2" construction pine was found in the workshop and I intended to make a match to the spatula holder in the picture.
The pine was marked up and cut on the bandsaw, (that blade is now over one year old from you know who, and it is still cutting perfectly)
The knife slots were prepared on the centre piece of the pine, firstly I tried running the slot marks using the sled on the table saw, and attempting to remove the remaining waste with a record combination plane, but it kept digging in, (my lack of experience with this tool to blame) so I went back to the sled and tablesaw and kept running the slots past the blade and got a reasonable knife block.
Did a trial run with some knives and then glued up the first face of block with some iroko (a change of mind had taken place)
Photographed this morning displaying the slots.
And a fuirther photograph showing the progress todate.
