Don't wish for a heatwave. I'm staying with my daughter in the east of France. For the past few weeks the temperature during the day has been reaching 35C in the shade. Just to check how hot it was, I put a weather station on the patio in the sun; 25 minutes later it was registering 49.8C. It's too hot to work outside in the garden, too hot to do much DIY inside and sleeping is difficult when night time temperatures in the bedroom are over 30C with high humidity.

Oh for some rain!

Oh for some rain!

I was in Alsace just last week; gorgeous weather. Now I'm back home in wet, dreary Wales...

Don't wish for rain!

Sorry but I would opt for the heat any day...I hate the cold with a passion. In fact I am convinced I should have been born in Australia as I love the heat so much. Mind you I am very thin and feel the cold more than 'normal' people.

Just arrived back from Sorrento today, ~34'c each day and humid too. Spent the last 7 1/2 hrs driving 219miles of contraflows, diversions and traffic jams in temp.s less than 15'c and loved it, even had the air con on!

Having been working outside all year, I'm glad when it gets cooler, the Security guard in Tesco keeps having to prize me out of the ice cream cabinet most days!

No photo, but was forced to light the fire in the sitting room yesterday. It's all very well, but who has to clean it out the next day!!

Got a lawnmower, kids like it.

Few warm days this summer, real crappy one, one for the histories.

Also this guy visited:

It's hell here too! I had to put a 't' shirt on this morning for the first time for weeks, I mean 20ºC at 8 'o' clock in July is just not on! I too love the hot heat and the pool is a nice 29/30º, but I admit that not much gets done in the garden or my workshop when it gets to the mid 30s though. One advantage is that the stuff that passes for grass doesn't need cutting.

Winter her is normally colder than we had in Stroud with snow quite often. We are not high up either, just 150m above sea level and it was as surprise the first couple of winters. In fact, last year, 2014, we had 2 weeks of sub zero and down to -11 for a day! We certainly needed our fire then to help the underfloor heating!

As for the lawnmower? In the shed, as I said, so the children would be a bit disappointed, but I do believe that the pool would cheer them up

I was being driven into New Delhi a few days ago, and spotted this message on the motorway gantry:

38 degrees Centigrade...and ....99.5% Humidity...at midnight. Gotta love the Monsoon.

It was my own fault when I said last Friday "Oh for some rain". One hour later it started raining and, over the weekend, the temperature dropped by 10C and we've hardly seen the sun for three days. Still I suppose it would have been worse at home

Me and my Missus renewed our vows last weekend, partly to draw a line under the cancer and partly to say thanks to all the village and family that have helped us. It was chucking down on the Friday with strong winds threatening to blow the marquee away. Come Saturday, party day it was sunny and wind free. Then it chucked it on the Sunday again. Maybe my luck is changing :)
