HI All
I was just wondering how anyone else shoots veeners for jointing?
I've made a veneer shooting board which will take leaves up to 8ft long and 400mm wide (sorry about the mixed units). Made from a sheet of MDF and a few quids worth of nuts and bolts.
I've yet to use it ( this pesky wardrobe is going on and on) but I probably will next week, weather permitting, and I'll post some pictures.
Cheers
Steve

Steve,
I use a plane generally (a #5). If the grain is such that it tends to tear, I use a sanding block (100 grit then 220) about 1 foot long with the paper stuck to the block and the leading /trailing edges rounded (curving away from the shooting board) so the paper doesn't accidentally dig into the grain.
