This is a rule that a friend of mine owns. He asked if I would photograph it for him in case it got lost!
Thought some of you might be interested to see it............

Yes, that's an ironmonger's rule, with special tables to work out the capacity of boilers and something else where the weight, in hundredweight, CWT, corresponds to the price, in Pounds, shillings and pence, LSD.

Quite specialist and rare, I think, and in very good condition.
I know that there is an inner world within tool collecting where well informed specialists pay quite high prices for these beautifully made antiques. I'm not a rule collector. Do we have any on here?

Very nice folding rule shown here. I'm not sure I could be classed as a collector but do have a little habit of buying any half decent rules on the local car boot wether they are wood, steel or plastic. As long as it doesnt cost more that 50p. They can be slide rules or normal. I have an idea to make a set of drawers with the rules displayed at the front. I for sure have enough now to make several sets of drawers but its something that just interests me. There are some quite good scientific slide rules from Russia that are occasionally available here. But I hasten to add I don't bid on ebay or anything silly like that. There are some serious collectors around for sure.
