I would say that power tools whilst having the same principle in operation can be vey different in use.

Practicing with one device and moving to another kind of negates the practice.

However at a just over £16 and if it works as it should, can't see what you have to lose. Can't imagine anyone is going to point you in the direction of a better machine for less.

You do need to consider blades as it doesn't look like it has any supplied, factor this into your cost.

Blades hopefully will be the bayonet fitting rather than the old black and decker screw type fitting, i would ask first which type it takes. The blades can be purchased at almost any tool shop/ ebay/ amazon etc.

Just checked and it is the bayonet type. :)

I've been offered a BOSCH GST 135 CE for £100.

Is that good value?

Not really.

1. It's obsolete.
2. The newer model (GST135BCE) can be had for £118.80 here: http://homes.fmbrowns.co.uk/ProductDetail_i406437 or the GST150 for £128.49 from here: http://www.powertoolworld.co.uk/BOSGST1 ... tAodzVgAsg
3. With the new ones you get a guarantee, with the one you've been offered you don't.

I like the look of the GST135 or GST150 but with a barrel grip. Where is the cheapest place?

Cheers

Not for a secondhand one it isn't. I bought mine a short while ago for £120 brand new.

That's actually the same model, not a newer one. The now discontinued GST 135 was superseded by the GST 140 but it's £100 more expensive than the GST 135.

It isn't the same model. The 135BCE is still a current model and came out shortly before the 135CE was discontinued. Similar specs but the BCE has minor tweaks.

I believe the CE or BCE version denotes whether it's the barrel grip version or the D-style handle version. I stand to be corrected but the GST 135 is a discontinued model, or it certainly was when I researched them prior to buying one about 12 months ago. It isn't listed as a current model on the Bosch website

Strange. It's still showing as current on the UK site, or at least it was the other day :?
