Hi all,

I'm a new member who is seeking some input.

I recently bought a Jet JPT260 planer thicknesser from Axminster.
When I adjust the fence's hand cranks to it is tightened it is pulling the fence away from being at 90 degrees.

edit: I've tried posting link but my account won't let me.

I've been having trouble getting Axminster to acknowledge this is a problem, although they seem to be on it now and are reviewing the video and pictures that I will also post here.

Does anyone have this planer?
Can you confirm it doesn't happen on yours?

Anyone else, I'm not wrong here, am I?
I mean, it isn't 90 degrees when tight- that isn't right and there is a problem either with the fence or with the bracket that the fence mounts onto.

Thanks,

James

I managed to resolve it.
I have a colleague who has the same planer and had the same issue- he was able to talk me through the resolution.

The problem is there are two adjustment bolts that are not mentioned in the documentation- they were (as were his) adjusted in the factory to be set to 90 degrees when the hand cranks were loose.
Loosening the adjustment bolts, tightening up the hand cranks, and then tightening the adjustment bolts with the fence set to 90 degrees has resolved the issue.

Slightly annoyed with Axminster- their tech said 'there is no adjustment' to the fence so I didn't investigate it myself.

I don't have that planer, so can't comment, but I am pleased you're colleague knew the remedy,
And you should now be able to beaver away in wood chip heaven!
Judging by the general opinion on this forum, Axminster PT usually have an excellent feed back regarding customer service.

Thanks, yes I have been planering and thicknessering for a couple of hours this evening.
Very nice piece of kit.

I've had a bit to do with Axminster in the last few weeks- they mostly have been good but occasionally a few things have slipped.
