Hello, I'm after a Jasper Circle Jig or similar to cut wooden rings with my Trend T3. Does anyone know of a UK or European supplier for these kind of jigs...? I'm not into making my own due to lack of space, time, experience, etc...

Thanks,

Bob.

Hi Bob,

Welcome to the forum. :D I have one of these jigs, just got it from the states myself. I paid $24.99 so you have found a good deal on it. I could find it in the UK, but it might be here just did not look in the right place.

I have an old Bosch POF500 router and the jig fits straight on, the holes line up, thought I might need to redrill.

Bob,

If you do buy from the states use Woodcraft or Rockler etc. Amazon US won't ship to Europe. Maybe email Jasper for a stockist on the East Coast to minimize costs (assuming Jasper won't ship direct).

Rgds

Spooky!

Bob,
I recently contacted Jasper tools to see if they will send a sample for review in Good Woodworking, and also if they supply to the UK, which they apparently will.
I have put them in touch with a guy who specialises in importing US products, so hopefully there will be a UK distributor soon.....
Meanwhile, as an alternative to the Jasper jig if you can't wait to get one shipped (or it costs to much in shipping costs!), Trend (0800 487363) have a neat device called the N-Compass which is designed to do the same thing and its micro adjustable so you can tweak it easily if you need to.
The basic device will rout circles from 25mm to 200mm, but if you need larger diameters, they also sell some neat screw together rods to extend the capacity infinitely.
I think the N-Compass sells for about £25-30.

I bought the N-compass when it first came out and my brother in law wanted some speaker cabinets made.

I find it accurate and simple to use. I got the mod rods which Andy mentions and they fit fine and mean you can cut circles as huuuuge as you like.

As for the speakers...................well the fronts and backs complete with ports have been cut waitin for the man himself to buy the drivers for months and months!!!!!

Hello, I've tried to contact Jasper on a number of occasions, although I maybe using the wrong email address as it's always returned recipient unknown. Is there a different website to http://home.flash.net/~jaspera/...?

I also couldn't find anything on about the N Compass on the Trend website but did find it on another website. It looks like it's able to do any size circle rather than circles in 1/16" steps. However, I quite liked the look of the Jasper jig as it looked a bit fool proof.

Cheers,

Bob.

Well after Andy Kings comments about the N Compass I went and looked at the Trend site too. They must be ashamed of the N Compass, its not on the site apart from in the PDFs of the 2003 catalogue. Even in the catalogue its not in the index, its on page 128 if your interested.

I bought my Jasper jig from Highland Hardware who have no problem shipping stuff to the UK.

I think that i got mine before Trend got their hands on it. If i remember rightly i saw an article in one of the mags before it was badged under the trend name.

I find it pretty foolproof. Drill a small hole 8mm if i remember, roughly measure from the edge of the pin to the edge of the cutter. adjust with the fine adjuster and away you go.

Aidan.

Dave/Aidan,

The Trend N.Compass is a pretty new one in their range, but I did look at it in its original guise a fair while back when I got hold of one from the inventor, a rather clever bloke called Toby Cardew.
His company, M-Power specialise in inventing neat devices to make life easier, a lot of which are now in the Trend range, including the MiniMach,
M3 Square, TriScribes and Point2Point.
If you are having trouble getting hold of the Trend version (it is available, but the webpage and catalogue haven't been updated) give M-Power a call and they should be able to help. 01980 629526
They have a website m-powertools.com[url] which shows the full range of stuff they do. Andy

Thanks for all the replies. There's a couple of places near by that do Trend stuff, so I'll go and check the N-Compass out before making a decission.

Thanks,
