Oh dear, I'm in danger of becoming a tackle tart!
Lateral adjustment lever says STANLEY PAT 724 88 Can anyone tell me if the year of make is indicated here?
I would also like to know what you think it's worth.

nice, well its got a low front knob and i bet with out a raised ring, and the old style lever cap and key hole design, i dont know about pat date but would say it about 100yr old, i had a 4c that was very similar.

VANN will be able to tell you,,,,

Yes it's a No.7 Thanks guys so far. You are confirming what the seller said it was. Any idea of a value?

you sound like the old me lol! umm i would say based on condition and the average ebay prices ect that your looking at about £75-£150

Americans would go crazy for it im use, but being a brit i stand by record tools (the old ones not the chinese)

come on then what you pay??

you should type it on the dating website, i would have a guess and say its a type 8.

because on the front knob and tote not having a raised ring or bed they are prone to splitting or cracking. more a collectors piece than a user, (im not saying it wouldnt work btw)

I'm planning on using it to be honest TT. Will DM you with cost.

i dont blame you as it is a good looking tool and i hope it serves you well, give it a sharpen and show me a shaving you know you want to,

i picked up a near mint or new record no8 for £50 the other day and it dates to about the 50's
i have a stanley sweetheart no7 with pat dates that i just look at

This is a very beauty and seems in very good conditions.
I have got some Stanley planes like yours and they are workhorses. I use them frequently and never had problems with the knob ring lack.
Iron, if original, is also of good quality.
Enjoy it :D
