This chap's wood sculptures are amazing; the 2 minute video which shows the stages of making a "wooden jacket" sculpture is also worth watching.

I guess he just relishes the challenge of making wood look as much like fabric as he can...
 
Extremely impressive skills, but I have to ask - why?! Even in large images I couldn't tell some of the quilts were made of wood. Then again I suppose its art, and therrefore not supposed to be understood so much as to make you think :D

I agree - "why?" was the first word that came into my head but I then came to the conclusion that it was a bit like a still life painter trying to portray a bowl of fruit as realistically as possible, using oil paints.
