Thanks Chris,
It was a pain to do. I used West Epoxy to veneer the burr and didn't get it thick enough, so it got sucked up through the veneer and bonded the breather strip... I ended up farming it out. They did a first-rate job, but it ate substantially into my profit
The orginal wooden pivot was useless, so I got a steel and brass one made, courtesy of my uncle, which is excellent. And I didn't realise that the leather would be seen and start to look scruffy so soon. A friend offered me some casino baize, originally £50/sq m, so we replaced the leather with that and, again, it should have been like that to start with.
Fortunately the clients are friends and understand about these things, and as long as they get sorted they don't throw a wobbly.
Apologies if all this is in the article, I can't remember how much went into the article, and we've also had a few conversations about it as it's been edited. I've not seen the mag yet, and, Adam, if you are waiting for a copy from the office, I doubt if you will get it tomorrow. Jan, who sends them out, only works part-time. I usually get mine on a Friday or a Saturday.
Neil, I think the second article is another hinge jig - I had expected that to be last months with the others, but I guess they ran out of space. Don't know when the setting gauge will be in, yet. Have you made yours yet?
Cheers
Steve
