Not a challenge but a question what is it?

I found this ages ago can't remember where or when. its made from cast iron seems to have a base but its not very stable! so maybe not.

Any one seen anything like it?

They were for supporting heating pipe in places like churches, and other public buildings. Also probably used in large Victorian heated greenhouses.
 
That would seem to make sense, it would fit a 41/2"od pipe, but the banana stands a more useful idea for today thanks for the input.. (hammer)
 
My nanny used to use one of those to support her fire poker - Seeing that brought tears to my eyes as when I was about 4 years old I fell over and cracked my forehead onto the sharp pointy bit - I still have the scar to prove it!
