At some point during the recent storms, I have lost a ridge tile. The tile is still on the roff, just not on the ridge, which is why I don't know how long it's been like that, I noticed it yesterday.

We have a local Facebook group, so I asked if anyone could recommend someone.

Within a few minutes someone said they could and he would send his dad round to take a look.

So Dad turns up.

Dad: I was born in this house. There were 9 of us. Mum and Dad and 5 kids. Then my Auntie and Uncle were killed in a road accident, so the two surviving daughters came to live with us too.
(it was 3-bed with no bathroom, it's now 2-bed, neither of them massive).

Steve: Really? Wow!

D: I laid that concrete for the ginnel (shared driveway), 40 year ago.

S: It's all broken!

D: The guarantee has run out.

It turns out he also laid the base for the old shack that I knocked down and helped to build the old shack itself.

That's it, really. He's coming on Saturday to fix the roof. I hope we don't get another downpour before then.

The biggest problem is it coming off in high winds so don't park your car or walk under it in those conditions you could end up with a huge headache.
