To my bandsaw woes that is.
The foxed up fox has finally had the last straw laid on its broken back. I'm spending no more of my life on this piece of scrap metal.
I shall be buying an axminster 350N this week,
so any one with bad reviews, heres your chance to air them for me to shoot them down (hammer) =D>

But now of course, I have another newbie type question.

If I am only going to have three blades (to start with), whats the best tooth type?

I'll need one for ripping 6" exotic wood like mahogany, maple, walnut (I know, slowly slowly) to a reasonably smooth finish.
one for general slicing and dicing,
and one for detail work.
You can see by the descriptions I'm not an expert, cant you?

I've had an Axminster 350n for many years without problems at all.

Phone Ian at Tuffsaws, 01443 819261, tell him what you want to do and he will advise.
Best blades and service you can get.

I have dealt with Ian, and will do again, but there are a some axminster blades in the deal, so I need to know what to ask for.

I had years of frustration with an Axminster bandsaw using their blades. This was only remedied by changing to Tuffsaws. Save yourself some grief and fit Ian's blades from the start.

oh well, too late for me as these are already ordered (barring type).

Theyll do for practice, and I'll order some proper ones with my next pension check.

I'll be bending over far enough when I drop this Fox off the cliff, then I'll be laughing too.

Glad you're sorted, and really hope this gets you inspired, young Bob!
Suggest you save the fox table for a future router table, both wheels and the motor, you'll be glad you did!
Regards Rodders

Rodders, its a while since anyone called me "young Bob".

As its a FOX we're talking about, the cast iron table is bent. The wheels and motor have a possible use, but I shall try to sell it "as seen". if not, I have a local scrap man who is always glad to see me.

I'm getting on well with the router table, and all the other tools (sorry to say big planes will always be a closed book to me). I have just bought some birdmouth cutters to make better boxes.

Well, the deed is done.
Paid for the new bandsaw yesterday, now I just have to sit back and find out whats going to go wrong first.
There just has to be something, doesnt there?

Which model did you decide on?

I took delivery of the 350n last week, very impressed so far. I've haven't used a bandsaw since school 20+ yrs ago. I was a little daunted by looking at the instructions online before delivery but it was easy, as was the set up. Just waiting on some new Tuffsaw blades. Good luck

Its the axminster 350N, encouraging to hear a good view of it. After 18 months of fighting this Fox, I really hope it works as advertised.

But it has to reach Cyprus yet, so whi knows whats going to happen.

The fun begins.
TNT says I live in northern cyprus, and they are going to send my bandsaw to Istanbul.
Only 1 & 1/2 hours flight time and two international borders out.

But who am I to argue? I've only been paying taxes here for 8 years now, I'm still an incomer.
