I think my scroll saw says I can cut up to 2 inches (5cm). But when I've tried to cut oak over an inch, it breaks the blade. Since pine is softer, do you think I could cut 4.5 mm (almost 2 inches)? I have FD blades 5, 7 and 9 ultra reverse. It will just be a 4.5 x 4.5 piece of pine, to make someone some chunky dice! So not a very long sawing distance.

its not too thick to cut using the right blade, but its not something i would relish cutting at that thickness. I have just cut a few orders in 3cm pine and that was enough for me, it gets quite tiring cutting slowly.

if its just a square of wood i would be tempted to use a hand saw..

How did you get on with your search for a bandsaw, Ives?

There's one that just came up in my town on Ebay that I'm super excited about! I started another thread about it, yesterday I think. I want it!!
