I do not know if this has been suggested before. How about a page to allow new members to introduce themselves, indication what they do and such like.

Thanks for your suggestion Richard. Seriously, most new members either jump straight into a topic or take the time to introduce themselves and talk about their work or aspirations on one of the boards.
