Pretty standard take down of a tree, much the same way we would do it here except we would all have hard hats & ear defenders on. Those guys will be deaf pretty quickly if they survive that long without being smashed on the head by a branch or piece of wood.

Oh really? I've only ever seen them do it with some kind of lift on a truck, or a very long ladder of sorts. In this day and age, I can't imagine there would be many companies that would allow their staff to climb 50+ odd foot up a tree with no safety ropes (the initial stage to install the safety ropes). Health and Saftey nightmare?

I was a tree surgeon for about 14 years and only a handful of times would we use a cherry picker or crane. We wouldn't climb without safety ropes, you would always be roped in on the way up. Chuck your rope over a branch, pull yourself up to there, clip your sidestrop around something, chuck rope over next branch etc etc.

Well that makes far more sense than my silly comment. *slaps head*

Nope! As said just standard take down, although not in this country as HSE would be all over them.
The saw you mentioned is a top handle saw, i use a Stihl, you would need a chainsaw licence
to buy one. HSE don't like them as they are used with one hand and hard to control if kickback.
